Friendship

Surat Al-Ĥujurāt (The Rooms), Chapter 49, Verse 13:

"O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted." (Quran 49:13)

Surat At-Tawbah (The Repentance), Chapter 9, Verse 71:

"The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and establish prayer and give zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger. Those - Allah will have mercy upon them. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise." (Quran 9:71)

I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "Man follows his friend's religion, you should be careful who you take for friends". [Riyad as-SalihinAt-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud].
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Seven (people) will be shaded by Allah by His Shade on the Day of Resurrection when there will be no shade except His Shade. (They will be), a just ruler, a young man who has been brought up in the worship of Allah, a man who remembers Allah in seclusion and his eyes are then flooded with tears, a man whose heart is attached to mosques (offers his compulsory congregational prayers in the mosque), two men who love each other for Allah's Sake (Brotherly love), a man who is called by a charming lady of noble birth to commit illegal sexual intercourse with her, and he says, 'I am afraid of Allah,' and (finally), a man who gives in charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given." (Sahih Bukhari)

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: A man follows the religion of his friend; so each one should consider whom he makes his friend. (Sunan Abi Dawud)

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "When a man loves his brother (for Allah's sake) let him tell him that he loves him". [At- Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud].
A man was with the Prophet (ﷺ) when another man passed by and the former said: "O Messenger of Allah! I love this man (for Allah's sake)". Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) asked, "Have you informed him?" He said, "No". Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) then said, "Tell him (that you love him)". So he went up to the man and said to him, "I love you for the sake of Allah;" and the other replied, "May Allah, for Whose sake you love me, love you." [Abu Dawud].

‘My close friend (ﷺ) advised me: ‘Do not drink wine, for it is the key to all evils.’” (Sunan Ibn Majah)

Abu'd-Darda' reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Shall I tell you a degree better than prayer, fasting and sadaqa?" "Yes," they replied. He went to say, Improving a state of friendship. Causing discord in a state of friendship is what shaves things away." (Al-Adab Al-Mufrad)
